The 2017 girls track season is underway.  The first meet took place March 21 at Kirkwood High School. Although the meet was a non-medaling to get the team ready to compete, a lot of the girls got new PRs (personal records).

At the Kirkwood meet we had a couple of school records set. One of which was set by freshman Erika Schamel in the high jump.  She jumped 4ft 10in, setting the freshman school record. Three records were set in javelin for all-time school history by Molly Darner, sixth all-time, Madison Wucher, eighth all-time, and Gina Hattemar, ninth all-time.  This is Molly’s first year throwing javelin, she said she plans on sticking with it and hopes to see improvement, but still enjoys shotput more.

At the Parkway Central meet on March 24, our girls again, set new school records. Molly Darner set the second all-time school history in javelin with 88 ft.-10 in. And Donnazia Trigg set the school record in javelin throwing a distance of 105 ft.-7in. Other javelin records were fifth all-time, Emily Kline and ninth all-time, Samantha Tarter. All of our teams, freshmen to seniors, took second at the meet.

Our most recent meet at Wentzville Holt High School our varsity girls placed tenth. Mason Fitzgerald placed eighth fastest school history in the 400 meter dash.  In the high jump our freshmen record holder of the high jump, Erika Schamel, tied her jump with fifth highest school history.
Girls track has two more meets this week, Wednesday, April 5 at Parkway Central and Saturday, April 8 at home for the Northwest Invitational.
