Watching her mom struggle with school work inspired Virginia Uding to specialize in Special Education as she co-teaches Algebra, English 1, and World History. She worked in accounting before becoming a teacher.

“My mom made school my number one priority when I was younger,” said Mrs. Uding.

Uding loves Northwest and said it is the best place she has ever worked. She also enjoys that Northwest has nachos for lunch.

“The staff here are kind and truly care about their students,“ said Mrs. Uding.

She currently works with with English teacher Jan Hoth, history teacher Dan Davison, and math teacher Kirby Mirly.

“They have been wonderful mentors to me. I can never thank them enough. Sheri Tucker is my special education buddy.  Without her I am not sure that I would have figured out things as quickly as I did,” said Uding.

 

Mrs. Uding loves being with her family when she has free time. Meme, her cat, is her role model because she is always happy, enjoys naps, and thinks shiny things are entertaining.

 

Mrs.Uding said her most memorable class is her current first hour algebra in Careers class.  In her fourth year of teaching said she appreciates the awesome overall attitude at NHS.  Mrs. Uding previously in Farmington at Jefferson Elementary.

“I have never taught seniors. They are so ready to enter the world and start their new lives not as my students, but as adults. It’s a transition that I have a certain respect for. As the first in my family to graduate, I am so proud of them. They are the first students in my teaching career to graduate. Getting my students to graduation is the whole reason I began teaching. They will be the first to complete that goal,“ said Uding.
